Hi, im looking to buy a savage, not very sure if the savage xl is better than the x ss....i dont need it for competition, just for my own fun...
I would apreciate all the tips u guys can give me ..thank u

i have both. i think for the money difference, i would go with the x ss. its smaller and lighter (will not brake as easy when jumping) and easy to find different bodys for. its almost as fast as the xl and will do wheelies better then the xl. but if you have the funds the xl has a few hop ups that also is better, like rx battery, 3 speed, steel spur. one hop up i would put on ether truck is reverse, for just bashing it will be much nicer with it.

dollar for dollar i think go with the x.

thanks for the tip..i kind of like the x ss too cos is smaller and it would be easy to carry from that point of view....im not looking to buy a new one, used in good condition would be fine..i see prices are pretty much the same

I have my Savages Modded with XL's gear ratio (since metal spur is a must upgrade), so apparently my Savage X beats XL by far in acceleration. (since XSS is using a K4.6= larger torque lessor rpm than K5.9, also the whole kit is lighter)

my suggestion would be X as well, cuz afaik, XL is nothing but a bigger toy costing you bucks without any actual improvement of performance.

Once you upgrade metal gears and Team Associate's Clutch bell (both are must upgrades, like mention before I suggest you go for savage xl's gear ratio) then you'll run like a beast and beat up XLs by far. next I think to upgrade to 3 speed transmission would be nice too.

XL, on the other hand, because of its length it is hard to brake/punch (in order to control the pose while in air).

Thanks to all the tips i finally got a savage x ss, fantastic deal and the truck rocks...what upgrades u guys recomend for the truck..
