Does anyone know whatever did happen to that
kit producing company???
Their kits were very nice......I wish I could
put my hands on the 1/5 scale Aeronca Sedan
or a set of plans to build one from it.

Pica itself is no more, and the kit line was purchased by COX

Pica

Cox only produces a few ARF's from the line. Check ebay out, create a search and wait for notification. Be prepared to pay what the market will bear to have one. Lots of people say they want something, few are prepared to pay for it.

A friend built the Pica 1/4 scale GeeBee Model Y and what a beautiful plane. I looked at buying one for myself but at the time it was too expensive or so I thought, that I decided not to. Now I wish I had have followed through as they are no longer available and I would still love to build that plane. Most Pica kits that I've personally seen are beautiful planes. Too bad!

Good luck on your search!

I do thank you for all the information given.
Pico Kits were of good quality and it is a shame
to see it go. Our hobby is fast changing. We
no longer have a majority of builders then flyers.
Within a few years you will no longer be able
to buy building material to scratch build a
model airplane.
This is an event that has occur & kill amateur radio.
We use to build our equipment, go on the air,
talk about our achievements. Now all that is
available is an IMPORTED black box that does
everything, its cheap and nobody talks electronics
anymore. Oldtimers that are still around talk
about their disease, and what have you .
Our model magazine talk about ARF reviews
now. whats next?

Pica kits

Hey Guy,
I had the good fortune to purchase a built and covered Pica 1/5 Aeronca Sedan recently (never completed or flown) and with it I received full size plans and construction book. The last 2 pages of the book have all the bulkheads, formers, wing ribs, etc at 1/4 of the required size for the build.

If you are serious about building this model, I will look into getting the plans reproduced, making a full size copy of the formers etc (I was thinking of doing this anyway so I would have everything on file - I would get two sets made) and send them to you for actual cost. I could copy the construction book also if neccessary .Terms - payment up front as with Most RCC transactions, M.O. or email trnsfer preferred.

ps. the airframe is quite attractive AND it's not a Cub, Decathlon, Citabria, or T-craft which you see regularly.

Hello Boomer;

This is the next best news from having the kit
I am certainly interested in building the Aeronca Sedan.
Dave Platt has built beautiful models. There are a
few full size flying around. Mainly out west and on floats.
It will make a beautiful, relaxing flyer I'm sure.

Go ahead with the plans and literature. I am not in
no rush as the shop needs to be renovated because
I can no longer find things anymore.

I will send you money via Western Union if you prefer.

Thank you

I have the Pica Aeronca Sedan kit put away and a Tri Pacer kit as well. But there ain't no cubs in this house!
I keep thinking about scaling up the Sedan to 96" for the G 20 or 23. Now that would make a really nice model!
