I seen this in some of the mags but you need an electric drill bigger then 12 volts in order for it to turn the engine over fast enough. I figured I could improve on this idea. It is made out of a 9/16 socket, stainless steel outer casing and piano wire inside. I made it on my handy metal lathe. I glued it together with JB weld and put it back in the lathe to hold it true for 24 hours until it dried. I tell you this is the easyiest thing Ive seen in awhile. You don't have to worry about pulling the engine out of the truck if it locks on you or trying to line up the flywheel on the starter box. You just push it onto the crank on the back side of the motor.(you have to take the pull starter off and use the oneway bearing setup. On an OS 12 the one way bearing is pressed into a 9/16 nut.) Press the starter switch and the friction of the wheels keeps the truck from sliding around. One hand does it all . This unit thread onto the starter and I have also used a set screw just for added holding power. I have filed a slight flat spot on the armature so there is no slippage. Next is to finish up my Coholic geard twin .049. Should be done by late next week. I'll post pics of that too when I'm done. It is more of a project of can I make this. With my crude work shop I'm having a real problem drill the carrier hole in dead alignment so I have some rock maple that should work not to bad. easier for me to work with.
Dave.
