a nitro motor can have premature wear if is ran to lean or to rich the motor has to be at least 200*(f) so that the sleeve expands and it doesn't wear it out i still got an old hyper 7 that my son uses now with the 8 port on it and it has at least 4 gallons through it it has a ton of compression and runs strong!!

Another tip that is helpful is to be sure that after you have finished running the engine is to be sure that the piston is at BDC and NOT TDC.

just to let you know TDC is top dead center and BDC is bottom dead center and always use after run oil some ppl use it once a week but if you use it after every run it certainly wont hurt

Not to get off topic... but I HATE after run oil... I always find engines harder to start after it's been used... I stopped using it about 10 years ago... if I am goign to put an engine away for a length of time then I will use it, but generally not.

I've had engines last for... well actually I always end up selling my stuff before the engine goes... but I've run 4+ gallons on some engines and not had an issue. One of my friends has an older Rossi 2000 (or XP 2000? something) I remember that engine from the late 80's early 90's... he's got over 20 gallons on it and it STILL runs as strong as most new engines.... just don't run it to lean and you'll be fine.

Remember richer is always better than leaner...

for some reason older engines like the 80's and 90's run for a very long time before rebuild. i wish modern engines were that long lasting

as it stands right now... I have a in my Stampede the trx.15, i bought it used, and since i bought it in november i have run over a gallon through it (drive every chance i get) I still have wicked compression and great torque. I only use after-run if I know for a fact the truck will be sitting for more than 3 days (usually never happens). As far as I can tell, stampy is running roughly 240-260 or so. I make sure its at bdc when it sits. I dont have any problems, and I am TRYING to kill this motor so that i can put my trx 2.5 in

a good gereralization for motors would be to say a motor will last, gererally, proportionaltely to how you treat it. If you take care of your motor by maintaining the air filters etc. it will last much longer.
