Orville's abound in Ottawa! a great overall Sport design!
It mostly the Stetson Flyers club who have lots of Orvilles about! Everyone puts there own spin/taste on the basic design! Iam no different!
I made mine with a different shape rudder more Float plane friendly! Ailerons - longer - with scallops New fuel tank top decking and head rest for pilot! and different landing gear set up! Overall it still Orville a great flyer! Thanks for the feedback Rusty33 PS: I think its Rick Ramalho and maybe Gerry's son Mitch Pronovost in the shots? Gerry Pronovost the original designer has made one in every size you can think of

Getting the radio gear and other parts assembled.
Hey the build phase is done now comes getting the gear in place before covering!
The wing uses 1 normal size servo in each wing connected by a "Y-harness" The servo gets mounted on its side. Each servo is secured into place with screws using 1/4" Ply servo mount. Then the servo mount then gets epoxied to indside of the 1/16" servo door. (see photo) I secured the servo long lead by cutting into the rib and closing the gap by gluing in a scrap securing the lead from bouncing around! The rear landing gear is standard 5/32" piano wire bent to shape soldered together and strapped into the model with landing gear straps.

Re: Follow along with the Orville .46 build!
Today was Maiden flight day for the Orville .46
The plane took a wee bit longer than I wanted to cover but it looked fantastic when it was complete! So today May 10 I took Orville out for it first test flights! - Did a range check etc - Tuned up the SF .46 and headed out to the flight line! - The plane was wonderful after getting a few clicks of aileron and elevator it was flying nicely hands off! - The circuit was busy so I landed and very happy with the first flight! I grab the camera and took a few shot that are are posted here! After a nice brake I took Orville out for the second flight and this time I started doing some basic aerobatics - Split-S , Rolls , loops etc all at about 1/2 throttle the .46 was a good match for the size of the model that I figured weighed in at about 4lbs. What I did discover was the Horizontal stab had a weakness its design and should of been wire braced as it let go all of sudden on one side then the rest of the stab followed it! Well $#^& that was that - Orville dove in from about 100 ft and re-kitted it self! Looking at the stab parts I could see the weak point where it let go! - Ken you got some re-designing to do eh!!! Post Analysis - Orville size and basic design was a great flyer and I will surly be ordering another from Martin soon after a few corrections are made to the stab! - The tricycle wheel are out to as our site has deep thick grass - not exactly suited for 3 wheels. So RIP (rest in pieces ) Orville you will rise from the ashes to fly again soon! Stay tuned for Son of Orville build this fall!
