CRRC 26cc Gas Engine!

I posted in the 'Wanted' forem for a 26cc gas engine and was sent a link to checkout the CRRC 26 cc Gas Engine.

Especially for the price, this seems like a nice engine. Does anyone here actually own one of these engines and if so, how good is this engine really??

Does it actually look as nice as the picture? Quality of the materials? And most importantly, how does it run, not just on the bench but while actually flying the plane?

Would appreciate any input from actual experience with this engine! Not looking for something to fly 3D or anything like that, just want a good relyable 26cc size engine for my 1/4 scale Neiuport 17 WWI warplane.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: CRRC 26cc Gas Engine!

Hi Gary,
Send a PM to Super08 in Alberta. He had one in a Funtana x100. If I remember correctly he liked it. From what I have read on different forums, the engine has gotten good reviews.
Send an email to Ray at PRCModel. If you do it right now at this time of night, I bet he will reply within half an hour. At least that has been my experience when I had emailed questions.
I know if you were to have any problems, Ray would stand behind the engine.
Brad

I have one in my Funtana X100, yes I know it is a 3d plane, but I don't fly 3d, I just like the way the plane flies with this combo. I know some have had issues, but like any other product any engine can have issues. Mine has been great, it is my second one and I am very happy with it. I flew mine in this plane right from the 3rd tank of fuel, just like I did with my Zenoah 26cc EI in my Cub. The CRRC 26 has a great power to weight ratio. With this combo my X100 only ways 9.5lbs dry, not bad for a gasser. There is plenty of discussion on this engine in other threads. Do lots of reading before you decide. Hope this helps

Re: CRRC 26cc Gas Engine!

Had one in a Velox, ran like a charm pulled well and was surprisingly reliable !
Local guy sells them and keeps all the parts..

Mine was the std one with the CDI ignition, most guys feel the RCEXL Ignition is the better one to go with.

Nice looking plane

Did you remove the Red from the cylinder head ? I thought the CRRC's had red cylinder heads.

Re: CRRC 26cc Gas Engine!

I would like to thank all of you who answered my call for info on this engine.

I did a search here on RCC and actually found a few threads discussing the CRRC 26 gasser and although there seemed to be a few issues, for the most part, folks were very happy with the relyability and performance. It sure looks sweet for sure!

Also with the info you have provided I feel I can now make an informed decision. I will be ordering this engine shortly but with the RCEXL ignition module rather than the standard ignition that comes with the engine.

I do not dispute the reputation and relyability of the Zenoah G26, I've owned and used 2 of them, but from what I have read and been told, this new engine seems to be a winner and the price is certainly reasonable! I guess we'll find out first hand now that I have decided to make the purchase.

Thanks again for your input and comments. To me, the most relyable factor when considering any purchase, is the honest input of the good folks here on RCCanada and I thank you for your help.

Keven, as always, you've done a superb job on the War Plane. Very nice my friend! I am excited about getting the Neiuport 17 done and ready to fly! It will be an adventure as I have never owned or built a bipe before...( or a "Sesquiplane" as its rightfully known as...1 and 1/2 wings )

Re: CRRC 26cc Gas Engine!

Hi,

Nope my 26 is the CNC milled version ..looks just like a tiny da 50 .I picked it up last year from prc-model .It also came with the rexal igniton .

You will love your plane Gary .I built one 5 years ago ...was fun to build and a pleasure to fly .I put a used up ys 120 in the nose and it flew great at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle . The 26 will work great in it !

Re: CRRC 26cc Gas Engine!

Well, I had replied to a posting with a G26i for sale and said I would take it at his asking price and he said someone was coming to look at it and he would definitely get back to me Monday, .. which he didn't. Not good salesmanship for sure.

So anyway, I assumed he sold it and I ordered the new CRRC pro Gf26i with the RCEXL ignition module. It should be here early next week. For the money this seems to be a great deal and I look forward to getting it! And its somewhat less expensive than the Zenoah anyways, so thats a good thing!

Thanks again guys for the encouragement. Keven, I can't wait to get it finished and start flying her! Thanks again for your input!
