lipo for receiver use
Can this be done? I have a 2 cell 900mah lipo, and was thinking about using it as a receiver pack. What I'm looking for is the 6 volts to the servos, instead of the 4.8 from the current nicad pack. If I used a voltage regulator, say this one, http://www.losi.com/Products/Feature...rodID=LOSB9609, would this work?
If anyone has any other suggestions for 6 volts, I'm all ears. Many thanks, Daren

Re: lipo for receiver use
Yes you can do that. There are a lot of good regulators out there specifically for this purpose. I personally use a 1600mah 2S pack myself.
I get my regulators here: http://www.perfectregulators.com/ Also keep in mind that many new servos and receivers are rated for 2S lipos now. If you're using Spektrum here is what it says on their FAQ's section: "The receiver can handle up to 9.6 volts. The real limitations are the servos. Some servos are capable of operating at higher voltages while others are not. Check with the servo manufacturer that you're using for specific details." Re: lipo for receiver use
Thanks very much for the replies. I used the search function after, (duh), and low and behold, lots of discussions.
Castle Creations also has a BEC, this one, http://www.castlecreations.com/products/ccbec.html, that looks like a good candidate. Thanks again, Daren
