Custom Flame Red Sukohi SU-31 - 118" Wingspan - 108" Length

After a wait of 81 days I finally was able to pick up the plane in Niagara Falls NY. It was built in Tailand and then shipped by boat to the US and then on to the CARF warehouse in Reno.

I had it shipped to USADDRESS.COM and I have to say what a great system this is for having large packages shipped within the US. It cost $25. and I got instant notification that it was ready for pickup. Going thru Canada Customs was a breeze (the border inspector was into RC also) and it took no longer than 5 minutes.

The US Customs was a completely different story!

As I digest what all the parts are for (not much in instructions) I'll start the Assembly thread explaining what difficulties I have encountered. I will also post the items I'm using, where I got them from, the weight of the items and any other issues that I have.

Hope that you will join in and help me with this build.

It's an awseome plane!

Brian

Re: CARF SUKOHI SU-31 with a ZDZ 210 ASSEMBLY BUILD

ELEVATOR BUILD PAGE

I started here because it was a easy part to accomplish with little to think about and not much done here will jepordize any thing else that I do to the plane.

I'm using JR 8911HV servos (on LIfe Batteries) that I bought from my old friend Gavin at Ideal Hobbies in Barrie. I'm using them for these three reasons:

#1 This is what CARF recommends for the plane.

#2 The pockets for the servos are buried deep in the Stab and Wing making it almost impossible to modify for another size of servo.

#3 After following all of the problems with Hitec servos on this site and the FlyGiants site I don't trust them anymore.

I'm using Hanger 9 1.5" Servo Arms from Great Hobbies. I like there multi locking feature on these arms and never have had trouble in the past with them breaking.

WEIGHTS

Single Stab & Elevator from CARF 393 Grams, JR 8911HV Servo 75 Grams,
Hanger 9 Arm and Linkage 7 Grams, Carf Aluminum Stab Tube 67 Grams.

Total Weight for the Stab Elevator Assembly 1037 Grams 36.6 Ounces.

SIDE NOTES

To help me keep track of the various servo leads I like to COLOUR code them with small Wire ties. For the Elevator I use GREEN. On the right side I add a RED tie and on the left I use YELLOW.

Putting in the special long and slightly thicker servo screws from CARF required a long screwdriver. To keep the screw in place I put on a magnet above the tip and it made the job so much easier.
