temporary fix for no antenna tube

When I bought my t-maxx it had no antenna tube so today I took one of my kids crazy straws and cut it up. Now it comes straight up from the receiver about 1/4 inch turns and goes straight out a hole cut in the back window. It actually looks pretty good.

Looks good, maybe........Works good, NOT!
You need to get that antenna going straight up. You will get proper range and be less likely interfered with...not to mention that the antenna is in the way of removing you body.
It's amazing how a $1.50 tube can do so much eh? Keep on truckin' dude

Like I said it, was just until I got the proper tube which came yesterday. I drove about 100 ft away and didn't have any reception problems. Today I was using my snow scoop for a ramp. WOOHOO.

I run fm, and in my savage I had the whole antenna internal (I wrapped the wire around a piece of lexan ////// so it didn't cross over itself, and ran inside the body from the front tower). I hated seeing all the broken tubes out there. I used to run internal antennas in my micros as it looked better than cutting a hole and putting a mile high tube out.
never had a problem.

as far as the reception, I bet you didn't realize that most of the reception is in the first couple inches of wire from the receiver. if you look at micro helis, you will see a lot of people use a base loaded antenna and cut the wires off and insert in a small metal antenna.

something to consider is all

Actually, for 27 usage (AM works, not tried FM, should be fine with that too), Radio Shack makes a "Flexible Cordless Phone Replacement Antenna", works great. You have to make your own base on the car, since it screws to the existing broken antenna mount on a cordless phone. Works fine for what I was using it for.

The MUTT on my website sports a white one. It's flexible, never breaks and is very good for reception. Plus, you can remove the antenna to use in another vehicle. (Wasn't that expensive either.)

Gramps.
