??? The link that shows how to do the mod, in detail, is in Greenday's post which started this whole thread. I can't take any credit for the genius involved in this project. I am only documenting my attempt at following it and adding some comparative run-time data.

Whoops, I forgot, missed the next button too.
But it looks like a nice walk through.

I know it's hard for you to say, but..
Would you say this is a fairly easy mod for a some what handy guy...

How are your soldering skills? Do you have any experience working on printed circuit boards? And do you have a suitable soldering iron?

If your answers are good, yes & yes, I say go for it.

In all probability if the run-time improvement is significant, I will likely do a quantity purchase on the regulators and offer to do the mod for a modest fee over the cost of the part. I'm estimating that $30 should about cover it.

Alternatively you could then just buy the regulator off of me to realize the quantity price discount and to save yourself some shipping $$$ as well.

17.5 hrs and we are at 10.0V. Need to wait and see if the claims of double the battery life are true.....but it's looking promising.

Or you could just hand me your Tx and $30-ish and be done with it.
