1/4 Scale Don Smith Corsair build

Hi fellows
after a 12 year break from the hobby I am back in it full tilt, in the past month I managed to pick up and assemble 35% extreme slick , 42% pilot Sbach , and a 50cc Sbach. But my true love is ww2 Warbirds and for my first winter project I just ordered a DON SMITH 1/4 scale Corsair.
I will post the entire build on here with weekly progress and would love for any participation ,tips and comments. its all good and part of the hobby.
As I am 12 years and hopefully wiser, I am sure we will keep it civil and have a lot of fun and get to know some of you guys.

Cheers Arthur

Re: 1/4 Scale Don Smith Corsair build

This are some of consideration of the colour theme.
I do not want the fresh out of factory look , I want it more weathered and used looking. it will have functioning cowl vents, but i am not going to do folding wings
Most likely a Moki Radial, Electric retracts. I can't wait

Re: 1/4 Scale Don Smith Corsair build

That is a pretty big airplane for your first scratch build. Also have to remember that there are no instructions. I have built a couple of aircraft from Don Smith plans, a Mossie and spitfire and they are for experienced builders. My suggestion is to start with a kit such as the Top Flite giant corsair. Instructions are excellent and there lots of accerious available. 50cc engine flies it very well.

Re: 1/4 Scale Don Smith Corsair build

Hi Mike thanks for the advise But this is not my first build
I have built 3 Zeroli War birds 2 Giant scale top flights, couple of Pico 1/6 scale war birds probably about 20 Great planes or sigs.
I built a 42% Aeroworks Edge 540 ... So building a Don Smith would be a Breeze, Now building it Museum Quality That is what this project is about.
