Power system setup help needed

Hello,

I will be scratch building once spring arrives, until then I got time to do some research. But, electric sailplane is a huge territory, so many brands, and data to look at.

My electric sailplane:
72 in span
395 sq.in area
weight 18-21oz
loading 6.6-7.7 oz/sq.ft
MAX. prop size is 6x3 or 6x3.5..etc (6 inches basically)....folding prop.

This model was originally designed for a simple brushed speed 400, with nicd 700mah cells. But from what I got from other builders of this, the climb rate is slow, meaning it would take like several minutes to get up to 500ft., I think they told me 20 degrees climb rate maybe.

I am confused, people told me I have to watch amps, volts, rpm for 6x3 folding prop, etc etc. This is too much for my mind to handle all at once.

Can you guys suggest a power system (brushless and lipo batts) which would give good climb rate?

----------------------------
Suggestions I got so far:
-use 2-3 cell lipos in the 1200mah ---->I will be getting E-TEC1250HP

-PJS 500 outrunners -----light, 50grams, but for larger direct drive props like 9 to 11 in, like $120.
-PJS 400, is new and also expensive, but I might consider this if it offers good things, but designed for 6x3 props....over 2000 rmp, and 700g static thrust, but it will rip off the folding prop????
here is link: http://www.czpjsza-motory.cz/index_e.html

-MP JET AC28/7-35D outrunner, for 7x3-10x4 APC props, but maybe it can handle 6x3, but is Kv950rpm/V which is low??, its light 56grams, and about $60, good price.

-MEGA 16/15/4-is not outrunner, and heavy 76grams, and expensive, I ill not consider this.

its going to be hard =$$$ to get the kind of power you will need with the prop you want ,in fact ,you will not get a very good climb rate with that prop period! why the small prop???

Thats because he is building a Ziroli Windex. The design won't allow for a bigger prop.
The only thing I worry about brushless motors is if you can run such long motor or battery leads without causing damage to your esc.

Here is a pic to give you an idea what it is.

i might suggest one of the cd-rom kits parly becuase he could build a high rpm ,low torque motor that will at least run the prop at a higher rpm

although the esc problem worsens becuase the amps will go up

castle creations 10 amp esc is very light ,place it mid way in the fuze???

When I built mine I used the black speed 400 long can and 8 kan1050 nimh cells with the 6x3 folder. The motor can take more amperage than the regular 400.
I am still trying to solve a gliching problem and only have two flights on mine. Climb rate is not a problem.

glitchng?? do you have a cap. soldered to that motor ,,its a very noisey motor ,,the interference could be from those long power leads ,also try a diode like great planes use
