Re: My first nitro plane flight

You are one brave dude maidening your 1st nitro plane off of a busy road and amongst all those wires and windmills. But you got it off and back down in one piece, so congrats. A successful maiden!!

Cheers

Re: My first nitro plane flight

Congrats on looking like an idiot and making good PR about the hobby tougher on the rest of us. Looking forward to the next video where you cause an auto accident, or destroy someone's property, or risk personal safety by flying into a power line.

Seriously, what were you thinking when you took off from a road with traffic on it? Was the excitement of flying that close to power lines just too much?

Re: My first nitro plane flight

Entertaining video, I really thought you where going to hit that pole on takeoff!

Glad it's back on the ground in one piece, that's always an achievement for any new vehicle in this hobby.

It's hard to see from the video but it looks like you just dived right in to the landing. If your site permits, try cutting the power down on the the downwind leg to about 1/4, judge your descent on the base leg and then use power to correct altitude and attitude to correct airspeed on final. That should give you a much more stabilised approach and slower touch down speed.

You'll find that with the higher wing loading of nitro planes, they aren't as forgiving as the foamies. It pays to fly them properly.

Re: My first nitro plane flight

Lol...lol...thanks for all the comments!!!! As for the flight area...im surrounded by 100 acres of land....the only use of the road are from construction trucks that occasionally are driving by to setup the windtubines....I own the road...and the surrounding area. The contruction guys are all aware of my flying....As for PR in this hobby.....if your really think it is harming it, ahhhhhhhhh..forget it...not worth arguing about.

100 acres of land and you choose a road with traffic on it and power lines.

The point is, even if you are the only person on that 100 acres you've publically posted a video showing a sloppy takeoff nearly into power lines, from a road that has visible traffic on it...damage is already done, even if we don't know the context entirely.
