Hey there,
I almost bought the Sensei but got Eflite's Alpha 450 Sport Electric Trainer instead. She's a well built balsa model that doesn't need any mods....excellent trainer right out of the box........

Re: Flight info ??? for Flyzone Sensei Trainer

My mods were done out of necessity, esc smoked on the table during testing of the control surfaces.
One of the screws on the front gear came loose and worked its way under the ESC shrink tube. (I THINK)
Not a good sight. I bought it from great hobbies and they were great at replacing the parts but they were the stock parts so i didn't risk it and modded the crap out of it.
The motor pretty well bolts into the stock location and mount, you will have to mess around with the ESC I had to cut some of the foam out to get it to sit nicely.
One thing i did do as well is cut small square holes through the fuselage and glued on white plastic spoons cut in half to act as air intakes to cool ESC.
As for CG using the stock points on wings, control throws are stock as well.
I might change the rudder to get more throw to knife edge better.
Yea I said it knife edge

I think you were under propped but a watt meter could verify it. What is your all up weight if you have it? OEM it should be 3 1/4 lb. Check that the prop was tight. I've seen video of the plane OEM and it only taxied about 15-20'.

Balsa is way best but the Sensie will have to stand up to a beating if it is going to be our club trainer. It's hard to beat Aerocell foam (literally). With Aerocell you are flying a plane made out of "pool noodles".

And with the stock prop and dry field I'm off the grass in about 20', it was so wet and mushy I should've had floats or funcub wheels.

Went through a couple of batteries on the Sensei, bent the nose wheel back a bit so flew the Champ until it got too windy.

I've set my timer for 8 min. Batteries are about 11.7 (2200) at that point. Flying about 50-60% throttle. I put the stock prop back on, much improved over the 9x6. I feel for the weather that you're getting. Flying weather can't be too far off.
