30cc Matt Hall MXS-R assembly for Scaleguy

Hello,
I took on a little project for Scaleguy. He has been on the road for work a bit lately and this poor plane has been sitting in a box for far to long.

It is a Peak Models 30cc MXS-R ( Matt Hall scheme )
Scaleguy is going to power it with a sweet little Syssa 180. What a nice little motor. Can't wait to hear it fired up and running.

The plan itself is very nicely built. Light weight to. My Peak 30cc SBach 300 weighed considrably more. The major weight difference is in the fuselage. The SBach fuselage was heavy. But there was a lot of wood in there to.
This MXS-R is sweet.

I will post pictures of different things. But not a huge amount of detail. It is a basic ARF assembly.

Re: 30cc Matt Hall MXS-R assembly for Scaleguy

The supplied hardware is good quality.
All the ball links are 2.5mm. But they are good.
The control arms are fiberglass and get epoxied into the control surfaces.

The servo arms are the aluminum style that bolt onto round servo horns.
Landing gear is Carbonfiber, as are the wing and stab tube.

You can aslo see all the components Scaleguy supplied for the assembly.

Receiver is going to be a spektrum AR7000. batetry power is a Duralite A123.
The whole plane is going to be powered by the one 2300mah battery.

I have the firewall drilled and the motor mounted.
The fiberglass control horns are epoxied into the flight surfaces.

Re: 30cc Matt Hall MXS-R assembly for Scaleguy

The elevator servos and rudder servo are mounted. I had to make the holes for the elevator servos about an 1/8 inch longer for the Hitec servos to fit.
The hole for the rudder servo was fine.

Re: 30cc Matt Hall MXS-R assembly for Scaleguy

The prop of choice is a Vess 18.5 x 5.5.
Vess makes this prop just for the Syssa engine. So I suspect at that size the motor is going to rev a bit. ANd with it being a Vess prop added to the high rpm's.
Scaleguy will be a full card carrying member of the loud obnoxius prop club

As a comparison, the DLE30 likes a 19x8 prop for most applications.
I prefer a 20x6 on my DLE 30 that is in a 78" extreme flight extra 300.

Last but not least is the motor. The Syssa 180 ( 30cc )
Hands down the best looking and finnished 30cc motor availabe.

The machineing is fabulous. Even the added touch of the engraving. Not to mention it is engraved upsidedown. So when the motor is mounted in its usual inverted position, the writing is inthe correct orientation.

Re: 30cc Matt Hall MXS-R assembly for Scaleguy

Scaleguy,

Almost forgot.

You will need 4 1/2 inch linkages for the elevators. The 3 1/2's are too short
