Another small update. Both wings complete. Graphics not on but thats a small job. Ailerons are set up and extensions made up. Now on to the fuse. Going to try one large piece of monokote for the bottom red section. May be a bit ambitious but I bought a spare roll of red just in case it.
Paint next week. My current goal is t have it done for Chatham.

Thanks Brad, way too many distractions right now. Gotta stay focussed. Flying season is here. Any idea when your ultimate may get in the air?

Re: Carden 32.5% Yak Build

Another small update.
I have the fuse mostly covered. Basicaly its red and blue with a yellow stripe down the length which will go over the red part. Red first as blue is a bit darker to hide the seam. Probably doesnt matter as both are dark colors.
I did the red in one piece. Cut it to the exact size to fit on. Also cover/capped all the end and inside bits.
The red I tried to stretch over as much as i could and tacked the outside edges. Then I took a heat gun and shrunk it slowly over the sides to stretch it over the bottom and finished with light heat and an iron over the whole surface.

Re: Carden 32.5% Yak Build

Then the blue. Again cut the piece to the exact size. I used the template supplied by carden to cut out the vert stab outline.
The method to apply the red was a bit of a chore, not sure I would do it that way again. Hard to get it shrunk enough and huge potential for wrinkles.
So for the blue, I layed it over and tacked it at the top and then pulled the edges and worked my way out to the edge working evenly along the whole length. with the part at the tail done last. Seemed to work better so may stick to that approach next time. And now I have run out of yellow for the tail so I may work on the painting until I get some more.
I found some polyurethane paint at a local hobby store that has an excellent match to True red and will work well for touch ups here and there. It was their last bottle and not sure if it is still available elsewhere.

Just found a link

http://www.nelsonhobby.com/hobby_paint.php

Not sure they are still in business.
