Priority #2 project

Royal Corsair 60 size.

Powerplant DLE 20
Retracts unknown at this time.

Glassed, primed and apply british navy camo colour scheme with raised rivets.

To date I purchased this corsair built. I did some work on the wing in preperation for retracts. The previous model had no flaps so I cut them off and really destroyed them. I then handed the wing to Trevor Brum (see his build services on this site) and he did some great work to create fonctioning flaps.

One pic will give you the colour scheme I have in mind. The wing needs a lot of work an notice the fuse wood is a different colour. Thats because Ive already applied a water based sealer before I apply the fiberglass. Ill show these steps once the wing is sanded properly.

This is a secondary project as Im waiting for paint to finish my jug at thsi location.

If anyone has retract experience please let me know. Most threads are hanging on to CJMs or Robarts. My jug has CJMs but she hasnt flown yet of course.

Until then. Let the thread begin.

Cheers.

Dave

So a 60 size corsair? I added flaps and RC Lander e-retracts to my corsair last winter. The retracts are really nice except for the depth in the wing.

Since I cant bury them deep enough the ball link protrudes above thewing surface so no doors until I figure that out. They work great by the way.

What a great build you have there. Ive been looking online for a stripe of rivet tape for 1 8th scale but with no dice. What did you use to seperate your rivets. Please dont tell me a ruler!

Dave,

thanx... All done freehand using a 1 ml syring and fine gauge needle (diabetic type from Shoppers), canopy glue and canoy glue mixed with silver paint.

Wowplanes has rivet stencils for many differnt scales. An 8*11 sheet of paper with 10 or so strips of adhesive paper that have perfectly spaced holes. Lay them down, paint on the canooy glue and once it tacks up lift the strip and move to the next spot. The strips can be used a few times before they get saturated and fall apart.

Re: Royal Corsair .60 size project.

Thanks for the link.

Some of the threads dont seem to be in favour of the product. Their is a guy on RCU that makes custom retracts and the corsair guys are just loving it. His name is Robinaire and im speaking to him about a pair. Im being careful cause this aint no Top flite. Its a royal!!!

Ill keep you posted.

Re: Royal Corsair .60 size project.

Ive decided to go with the Robinaire retracts. Ive heard from many end users with this cosair and his retracts and none have gone back to him from what Ive been told. SO ill order a pair.

I wanted to get glass work done here but Im on the road for the next while so both projects are on hold. This is a drag but Ill be able to make up for it in march when I have a whole week off.

Re: Royal Corsair .60 size project.

Dave, I have 2 sets of Robinaire retracts (rotating), one for my TF Corsair and the other for my TF Warhawk (both are still NIB). Retracts are nice and well made, but he can be slow in delivering. You will get them, but it may take a while. He and his wife had some health issues that slowed him down when I was waiting for mine. Don't know if this is still a concern or not.

Cheers!

Is this the same guy who used to make the LADO retracts? He had all kinds of delivery issues and never responded to people who had paid him for orders or sent prodoct back for repair.
