Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally - Princeton, BC
Here it is folks... Because it's getting closer, I thought I should start a dedicated thread so as not to hikack the Canadian Events Thread.
Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally - Sept. 16-19, 2010 (Thurs- Sun) Princeton Regional Airport Princeton BC Bart will be at the site on Wed to accomodate early arrivals and flying. Thurs and Fri are set aside for maidens flights, test flights and warming up your thumbs. The event will be open to the public on Sat and Sun, so jets must have had 5 successful flights to fly these days. It's not yet confirmed, but I may stay over for the Monday should anyone wish to stay over for the extra day of flying... let me know if anyone is interested. As a caution, be advised that due to the current forest fire situation in BC, Princeton is currently in a Fire Ban area. This may affect whether or not the Rally goes ahead. It is hoped and anticipated that the situation will improve by the time the Rally rolls around. Accomodations: Villager Inn: 1-250-295-6996 or 1-877-295-6996 Best Value Inn (the old Best Western) 1-250-295-3537 or 1-888-315-2378 Other accomodations can be found at: http://www.princeton-bc.worldweb.com...els//index.htm Looking forward to a tonne o' fun... Steve

Re: Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally - Princeton, BC
Well to let you know Steve, Jean and I won't be able to attend this year's fall rally as it was our 10th anniversary last Friday and we are having a big do on the Labor Day weekend and wouldn't you know those relatives from BC are coming back through on the weekend of the Rally. You know some of the those people like Alberta so much they don't even know when to go home. Anyways it will be the first rally I have missed out in Princeton in 5 years, I think so have good time and bring home everything to fly another day. See the rest of you down in Whidbey in less than two weeks.

Alan, I gotta question your priorities... My 10th anniversary is Sept 16th this year and I will be there on the 17th!

Hi Steve - Carol and I plan to be there. Just like Alan, we have not missed one in 5 years.
Talking to Kev-O today - what's the possibility of talking to the city of Princeton and the fire dept. ahead of time to get approval for the event even if there is fire ban? BTW, are you and Julie coming to JOW? Bob |

Re: Gerard McHale Memorial Jet Rally - Princeton, BC
With Respect to fire bans, I'd say everyone should just leave it in Bart's corner for now, and assume all is full steam ahead until he says otherwise. He's dealt with the same situation in the past and knows what stake holders need to be involved to get the go-ahead.
Typically the weather patterns in the Princeton area will change relatively soon, so 4 weeks out could be an entirely different scenario vs today. A few good days of rain can make a world of difference. Kelly

Alan.... I'm really sorry to hear that you won't be able to make it this fall. It just won't be the same without you. I suppose now that I'll have to find someone else to pick on. Too bad... you were so pickable
Bob.... At this point, it looks a little doubtful for JOW. I guess if we can't make it, it will be the same without me I look forward to seeing you and Carol again in Sept.

See you there Roy. I had the lock adjusted so I can now leave it with you if I go before you are ready.
Yah all, hope the weather changes are enought. See you all there. Bob I will be at the Shuswap Float Fly the week before, will you be there? Bart |
