What's on the bench for this winter?

OK, I haven't seen this topic yet this fall so IF there is already a thread for this, please let me know and I will delete this thread. This is something we usually do every year here once the flying season is winding down, for most of us anyway!

What are you planning on building this winter for the next season? Perhaps you are just fixing up an old favourite or doing some rebuilding. Let us know. It's fun to check back in the spring and see what actually got accomplished compared to what you thought you'd get done over the winter months.

Nothing all that special for me. I am again hoping to complete my 1/4 scale J3 Cub as well as the 1/4 scale Neiuport 17. I am going to build another Tree Hopper. As far as I know it's the last kit of this plane in exhistance as the kit has been discontinued. It's a great all around aircraft and I will be using a CRRC GF26 PRO gas engine on it so will be cheep to operate.

Also just purchased a load of balsa from my friend Don Wilson. I am going to be scratch building a Telemaster 40 which is one of those early planes in my experience that I had so much fun with.

That's it for me. Please let us know what your plans are for the coming months! Thank you in advance for participating!

Re: What's on the bench for this winter?

I still have to finish Rare Bear. Even though it may look close to completion, there is a ways to go yet. Then the Seawind or scale, multi-blade heli. Have not decided which would be the priority. Just got the F-15 that was for sale here recently and am already listing some changes I might make.

That BUSA EAA Bipe is still sitting in the corner looking lonely and with great sadness I'm trying to decide if the partially built Goldberg Super Chippie will go on the table at the London Swap Meet.

But first, with the weather trend it might be looking at swapping shoes on a few of the planes. If this wind ever dies down and ground dries up, (or freezes solid) think a few more will be wearing skis this year.

Re: What's on the bench for this winter?

Nothing too exciting but I will be fixing a damaged Funtana 125 that I bought in London a couple of years ago. The landing gear was ripped off which caused some damage to the wing covering as well

I have a NIB DLE 20 waiting to be installed and I'm sure it will be a nice flyer.

Also finishing a 1/4 scale car that I bought from the US earlier this year. It was built in the late 80' or early 90's and I disassembled it, I'm polishing all of the aluminum and will then do reassembly. It's a NASCAR style vehicle and at 1/4 scale it's about 4 feet long!!

I'm setting modest goals, seeing as I'm away for work half the time. I bought a Bud Nosen Mr. Mulligan kit from a fellow RCCer, and will be plucking away at that. I'd like to put a radial up front too..... we'll see

I am working on an MK Cessna 182 and I plan on building something for water only. I have plans for an Osker.

Re: What's on the bench for this winter?

OH man, Gary! If I get just a bit of what I WANT to do done, I will be amazed.

I have a Sh*t load of planes to repair/rebuild/resurrect. (at least 5 at a last count) plus I have Beaver kit I just acquired, I need to finish getting my Phoenix Cap 232 electrified, I want to drag out my Balsa USA EAA Bipe kite that I got at an auction years ago. I really don't know where to start!

BTW, I was looking the bipe kit over, and I found a piece of paper inside, a memo to club members dated 1989, so it's been around a while. I have only owned it for about 7 years.

Re: What's on the bench for this winter?

I have a few supplies left so I'm putting the Great Planes 40 size Cub together coupled with floats.
I also have a couple things to do on the Corsair.

Re: What's on the bench for this winter?

I'm working on a Hangar 9 Pulse 125 XT. Budget dictates that this is a winter project and it's taking plenty of time to get things the way I want them. So far I'm having a little frustration and a lot of fun!

Re: What's on the bench for this winter?

Several things on the go:

- I have an e-flite Beaver wing to repair so I can put skis on her for winter.

- I am building a foamy Cirrus (FP3) for indoor flying.

- I want to get back to my 2+ scratch year build of a DH83 Fox Moth that has been on hold over summer. As picture indicates, I actually got to fly in the original full size in June in England. Other pic. shows model designer's original from the plan I'm using.

- I want to complete a 75" Edge 540 electric that is 90% constructed but needs covering with complex Castrol Aviator scheme. It originated from a 50" Stevens Aeromodels Edge kit from which I magnified the parts by 50%.

Lots of other ideas but trying not to get distracted from above!
