Irvine 53 test

Hey fellows,
Flew my new Irvine .53 for about an hour last Saturday. It is one sweet engine, still very tight but it starts easy, and once I leaned out the low end ran great. Easy to set (not too touchy) and ran great. Tons of power for the 5 pound fun fly model, excellent vertical.

I will run the hell out of this engine and then make my mind up (after at least 10 to 20 hours on it) but from what I experienced in the first hour its a winner.

So how has the Irvine run? I just ordered one yesterday for the Ugly Stick im building. Has it been reliable? what do you think of the power compared to say the 46's and 61's? What prop does she like?

Anyway let me know.

The engine is in winter hibernation right now.... I have about 1 1/2 hours on it and I like it. I am turning a fun fly prop, a 12.25-3.75 APC and it runs well with that, but for a normal sport plane I think an 11-7 is a better choice.

I would buy another. Havent run any other Irvine to compare to the 53, other than the older 40 diesel but that isnt a good comparision.
