Re: Twin Otter Build!!
Hi Capt: I'll definitely do the Hurricane first! Be nice to build from laser cut parts! I've always wanted a Hurricane, they just don't get the respect they deserve for the part they played in the Battle of Britian.
I messed with some numbers on the Buffalo yesterday, if I leave the fuselage at 65" as per plans, the wing should be rescaled to 79.5". The plans show a 96" wing. I have no idea why this was done like this, it was designed as a standoff scale plane-standing off a little too far?? If I leave the wing alone, the fuselage needs to be scaled up to 79". I'll run this past my bud to see which would be easier for him to do on his 36"plotter. I also had a quick look at skis for the Twin Otter, have to scale them out from pictures, so have to find a picture thats straight on side shot - back to Airliners.net I guess. The skis on the Twotter kinda look like flattened garbage cans, its the mounting and cable hookups that will be difficult, they anchor into TE of wing for the mains. I'll need hardpoints installed in the wings for that! Have to do some more research first! flytwice |

Re: Twin Otter Build!!
Yea,
many time WWII fighter aircrafts have not been reconize for the duty missions they have done to win the war. Sometime peoples go for the nicess, and the more known fighters that all compagnies makers have already. It would be nice if you come out with a real nice looking Hurricane ! That would be nice for a change ... And from what we see on forums build thread. The Otter skies ,,, I think someone as offer to help you in your thread with those real fully scale size life Otter. See in your past posts as I think he as mention he could take alote of photographies for you if need it ... Maybe they have the skies you planing to do on yours. As anyone as that helping hand for our buddy Flytwice here ???? About the Otter skies in scale view and from your compagny fleet ? It would be awesome to help him out if anyone with this issue can ... |

Re: Twin Otter Build!!
I could try to get pics of skis, but all the twins are up north and when they come here they don't have skis on, but I think they are repairing a set and could try to take some pics of them, but they would not be installed of course, maybe I can get pictures from the maint manual and IPC as this would show in great detail the entire installation, if I have time tonight I will look for this stuff for you, scan it and email it to you in the next few days

Re: Twin Otter Build!!
Geez, thanks guys! I'd appreciate any photos of the wheel/ski combo you can send, mounted or not. I only found one pic, from the rear of a ski. Cannot tell if its a main or nose. No explanation.
I've added a little more detail, static tubes and some kind of reciever on port forward of door above the static tubes. I'll be sending Callie the info for graphics soon. We have about a foot of snow in last three days, it here to stay. Big storm predicted for tonite. tomorrow! Going to nee snowshoes to get to the field! I hav also decided to modify nose gear steering with a spring loaded mechanism to safeguard the servo. Hurry up SPRING" flytwice |

Re: Twin Otter Build!!
Hi FiveZigen: I have kept the flaps and ailerons completely separate. I use a 6 channel radio, don't have a mix for this. I can use the flap switch to get 10% down on ailerons to act as secondary flaps.
I have the same setup on my 96" Turbo Beaver, but I'm very leary of using it, it may cause the ailerons to lose their effectiveness. Not something I want to happen 10-20 feet off the ground in the landing pattern. flytwice |
