Drone Crashes into house
This is why I think drones will start giving RC a bad name. There are several 1000 successful safe flights daily and loads of safe operators but you have the odd one fail or operator make an error and when your flying with people and houses around the chances for property damage are much greater. If this was at a flying field the odds of damage and injury is reduced. That coupled with the fact most are taking video and then end up on the internet showing the damages. I think quads are cool but I really am worried that as more and more start flying by less and less experienced operators we are going to start having this stigma begin to develop with RC in general. I really hope I am worng however.

Re: Drone Crashes into house
these drones are getting smaller and safer though the one in the pic is big enough to do damage. I think the need for safety will keep on motivating companies and individuals to develop smaller and smaller and really small high end quads.

Re: Drone Crashes into house
The problem is that everyone and anyone can fly these now basically because there is no runway needed or club and no real learning curv to speak of. Take it out of the box, charge and fly.
We are just beginning to see the problems that will occur and eventual regulations put in place that may effect all of us. Really SUCKS! I love quads but always use mine in the appropriate settings. Bill

Re: Drone Crashes into house
WOW, that was really painful to watch...$3000...BANG! OUCH! Hurts just to watch it. Gosh that was so incredibly careless and reckless of him. Looks like there was a kid about 6 feet away from where it crashed. I am surprised anyone would be so stupid and then post it on youtube like this. Looks like that house has a for sale sign out front.
Wonder now if he is going to sell it..."Slightly used, Inspire 1, a few chips(and tan paint on the front, matches the house) but what a good deal I have for you! Camera is separate...comes with pictures of the garage" Last edited by GayeDar; 01-16-2015 at 01:58 PM. |

HA HA! What a moron.

Someone with real RC experience would probably never have any issues because they would approach flying these machines in a safe and methodical manner.

Re: Drone Crashes into house
You think the only damage was to the drone? Look closer at the video, that 'harmless' drone left a nice big dent in that metal garage door!
And now for the can of worms, I'd like to see these pieces of sh*t declassified as model aircraft and left alone by MAAC and AMA. They are going to do FAR MORE damage to our hobby/sport's image than any good. |

Re: Drone Crashes into house
Actually Max, I think the homeowner was just getting even with the developer/homebuilder.
Looks like a for sale sign out front, every house is the same crappy colour with the same crappy coloured sidewalk to boot. Atleast now his home is slightly different then all the rest. Bill

Re: Drone Crashes into house
The video leaves many questions unanswered. Since we are speculating, try this scenario: the person coming out of the house is actually a real estate agent who hired the drone to take photos. Maybe that pilot is in line for a $1000 fine?
