Snow all gone

Well the snow here is pretty much all gone..... Roads are all clear now.... But don't worry about us, what we don't get in snow we make up with rain.... Went camping once to a lake about 3/4 north of the island... And it rained all day and all night one day, well the lake rose 30 cm (1 ft), the next morning.....
I wish we got more snow but then again i did have to mow my lawn last weekend before the snow.....

Rossignols are skis, right?

If they are, then be prepared for a 4hr drive up the island to use 'em; February ain't the best time to look for snow around Victoria!

Better off to pack a couple of electric models or slopers so that flying sites are available; bring a slimer and then deal with the local club, not a good way to spend time in Victoria

Check into BC Shaver Shop (I think) on Fort St., ask for Mark, he will help you find the electric/slope sites...

Got my Rossignol's all waxed up, I'm ready to go!!!!!
Chris, the biggest and best ski hill on the Island is Mount Washington... It is a really nice mountain with great runs - even better than Whistler / Blackcomb. It is only a couple hours drive up on the new Island super highway....

Yes Rossignols are skiis.

Thanks Wayne, I had heard of Mount Washighton and was going to look into it. Looks like I may be making a trip to the mainland too. The wifey wants to see Whistler.

The Island

Washington isn't far away from Nanaimo, but you have to add at least an hour to the trip from Victoria. Mid-Island? yeah, that should give you a laugh to find out what a piece of madness that is; I took it last time there, and found that a lot of it was still the same old stuff built 50 years ago (the Malahat), interspersed with (!) stoplights.

Haven't any personal experience with Whistler, but I understand that it's a good idea to show up with a fat wallet...

Whistler is highly over rated and expensive, but I guess if you have never seen it before..........
