Fokker Triplane

My Ron Weiss plans 1/3 scale Triplane will be covered soon.I'll be using Stits paints on coverall in Von Richthofen's F1 102/17 colour scheme (red&white).Apparently he used this version to fly back and forth to the factory .The cowl will be left aluminum with the open front as the original.Plus it provides better cooling.Power is the Saito 450 radial that puts out 7 hp.Inside the fuse is a 50 oz Dubro tank.Right now I'm installing the (90 oz torque) mg servos in the top wing.It will weigh between 35-40lbs.

stits

I figure Coverall and Stits light are about the same.I've used stits on a Balsa USA Supercub and it seems very similar to Coverall. Its just that I have a bunch of coverall and a pretty good stock of Stits poly tone, poly brush, poly spray, and poly tack adhesive...great stuff ,goes on easy, dries quick..SteveD

Coverall

Steve,
I'm curious to know how you make out painting the Coverall. I have a Waco that I covered with it, and I've been doing some paint samples with the Nelson water based paints with terrible results. It seems to have a very open weave that's hard to fill. I think I'll have to go to nitrate dope or poly brush, then to a compatible paint...dope or Stits perhaps.
Please keep us posted on your progress!

Cheers, Nigel
