my head is reeling from this conversation..or maybe its the beer...but I do have a question for you. Did you ever consider adding some (shudder) WEIGHT to the extensions you put on the ailerons so as to guard against aileron flutter?

Re: 35% Exclusiv Modellbau Challenger III - BBT

I hope there won't be any flutter, especially considering the size of them... These are about 1/2 the surface area of a 35% Carden.

In addition, these ailerons are guided by the Futaba BLS172 servos that are slop free and 514oz-in

Re: 35% Exclusiv Modellbau Challenger III - BBT

Going back a few pages in this build (around page 67) there was a discussion going on about pre-heating smoke oil and nozzle design. Anyway I was on a website looking for something else when I stumbled on a spray nozzle for full scale aircraft along with a description of how it works and where it should be located etc. It is a bit pricey but I was more interested in the design than the price.

This is the link to the nozzle http://www.aircraftspruce.ca/catalog...eyinjector.php

A little way down the page under "documents" is a link to "helpful hints". This is a good read as it talks about some hint on setting up a smoke system and what can be used for smoke oil...alternate oils to the specifically design smoke oil, which is handy for those of use that would have to ship it in by 5 gal pails.

I thought the warning at the end of the "hint" about people adding kerosene to the oil to thin it down was interesting..add too much kerosene and you get a flame thrower! and a potential for burning your plane. Why have painted flames when you can have the real deal...lol

I have attached a pic of the nozzle.

Re: 35% Exclusiv Modellbau Challenger III - BBT

A little update on this build!!!!.....

The plane is painted I've seen some earlier pictures of it before clearcoat and all I can say is WOW!!! I'll be picking it up from Peter tomorrow. Can't wait to see it in person

In the meantime, BradleyBan (aka: Mental Machinist) has kindly offered to make me up some little polished BBT tags out of thin aluminum that are engraved on his CNC ... should be a nice addition to the plane Brad!!!
