One thing for sure I wouldn't even try to define/interpret is: "… a careless, reckless, and/or dangerous manner."

Agreed. I was thinking more about the first part of the line Where established, I will abide by the safety rules for the flying site I use ...
Perhaps we should leave the details of the development of control measures up to the local club to deal with under broad MAAC guidelines. Micro-managing from the "centre" never seems to work.

STAGES of COMPETENCE

Just food for thought!
You can't ban 3D, jets, pattern, etc; but you can set a level of competence in each area. You do it from beginner to pilot and to jet. Why not let a hobbiest prove his competence in each level and group and AFTER they have proved themselves worthy, then they can decide if they are good enough to grab a rudder in hover. I think we're trying to put the cart before the horse and demean this hobby by POSTING HAZZARDS and DANGERS that are truely far and minimal. Yes there are crashes and accidents. There are more crashes and accidents in racing F1 or NASCAR, IRL, NHRA, but even though they have rules and limits, those governing bodies still allow enhancement and growth, technological change and experiments of their respective sport.
Stop asking MAAC to put the BRAKES on this sport from growth.

I say to satisfy the new 3D rule......

.......we fly only in 2D...........the planes goes from one end of the runway to the other and you refuel it and turn around........just like R/C cars.......and that keeps the insurance company happy and perfectly within their tolerance level.

Suggest it at the next AGM. End of argument. No?
