I'm thinking of either the 79" extra 300 or the 79" mxs for spring. Want to have one bigger plane again. Will stay electric whichever I choose. I have a skyline sbach 342 60" which is goldwings sister company, good flying plane the only thing I can say is mod the landing gear before flying. Lots of threads on this, third grass landing on mine wiped the gear clean off. They mount the gear to thin balsa. Won't hold up!! But other than that everything else seems to be good quality.

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

my new favorite plane is the 89" aeroplus MXSR however its a gasser with a GP61. I would love about a 74" electric but the motor/esc/Lipo's get costly fast. Sure a lot of fun as many at events have 3dhs and EF planes flying HARD!

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

Bigger flies better. I have this little guy and it is very unstable at slow speeds. There is nothing you can do about it I doubt anyone could harrier this thing. I tried flying it slow and the outcome was just about like yours. I gave up with slow speed and use it as a basher with aurora lights for night on it because I can move it around easy without taking it apart.

You will find the 72-80 size electrics vastly out preform the 60 inch.

Do yourself a favour and stick with 3DHS or EF if you 3D. From what I have seen and owned you cant beat them.

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

Slats I totally agree. Although I have see many videos of the 44" slick doing a harrier. Daryll I have sadly only one gasser left a 65" extra 300 with a dle 20cc on it.

So I'm a Glutton for punishment bought another one. Just easier to transport than my 60".

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

Have you considered or were you running a stabilizer? I just watched some videos, and although it will do everything a large plane will do you can see the lack of stability. In any case, I think with some stick time and setup you should be able to harrier it. I noticed on the videos I watched the angle of attack was pretty shallow for the harrier.

In any case, a stabilizer won't be able to stop a violent snap from a harrier but should help with wing rock and just generally make it fly 'bigger'.

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

Never thought of a stabilizer, working on it tonight so maybe will get some flight time tomorrow. I'm going to leave the sfg off it too this time. If it flys the same way it will just be for high speed flying. Cause they are fun to fly.

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

I was hoping the slick was going to be a better flyer.

Those two are dead to me now lol. Aeroplus is where it's at.

Re: 3DHS 44" Slick 580

Brodie the slick could very well be a good flyer. I know on 4s it's a blast. Upon building tonight I noticed a few things. 3dhs give you the option of rudder servo mounting, pull pull or tail the old plane I picked tail which now makes sense that using the recommended CG was giving me a tail heavy plane and yes that's how it flew. But should have hovered better. The other is the motor box main mount on the first one it did not seem to be held very well together(big gap on right hand side) this one is tight. I've glued all the open balsa I can, swapped over the power system and servos, built the pull pull set up. It's mostly done. Will leave the sfg off and fly if it flys better I might take the old sfg and trim them down to look like the extra 330's and cover them to match this plane. They don't give you much room for error on landings. Will do a flight report if I get out tomorrow.
