I guess some guy's just have too much pride and not enough brains to relize that if you don't know, just ask. Especially with all the info and different forums available today on the WWW.
If you need a piston I have one NIP as well as a couple of blue heads NIP.

Below is one I was not disappointed in Frank

I am going to take you up on your offer of a piston. My spare is different. The piston I need has a radius on the bottom of the skirt at the front. I notice the liner has extra boost ports that match the radius. I must have the high horsepower job here, LOL! Let me know and thanks.

Re: Engine repair for DUMMIES! Rant!

You might want to try this! I have run across several engines with mild scoring of the cylinder and continued running would have resulted in irreparable damage. I bought a brake cylinder hone and tried honing the cylinder. First an ASP .91, it worked and run fine. Next was an OS .91, it ran great and I just did another OS .91. Naturally I de-carbon the engine and I scuff the ring so it has to reseal. The OS .91's showed signs of cylinder distortion.

Hi Kip

Yep, I've used a brake hone to deglaze a cylinder and get a cross hatch in there again. It works well on the older engines with a steel sleeve. Have to be careful when honing a sleeve that's been chrome plated though. Chrome is quite thin and hard and if you get too aggressive it will peel. But you probably know that, just a thought for others who have not tried it yet.

Re: Engine repair for DUMMIES! Rant!

You also have to watch when abrading hardened cylinders, since most use only surface treatment. Once through that and into the base metal things can go downhill fast.

You should also treat any motor done this way, (I'm assuming a new ring, as well) like new with the full break in procedure.

From what I read and have seen with my motors Fox hardened his sleeves better than most. I just sent off the bits to a Eagle 1 to another RCC member and even with a worn set of rings the sleeve was virtually perfect.

Re: Engine repair for DUMMIES! Rant!

When a hardened or chrome cylinder shows signs of scoring the engine is usually beyond repair

Abolutely right Kip. My comment about honing a chrome cylinder though meant that when I am replacing a ring I will hone the cylinder very lightly to prepare it for the new ring, provided of course the liner is good for reuse. If it's scored toss it.

Re: Engine repair for DUMMIES! Rant!

Yes for that I usually hand lap the cylinder with some wet or dry sandpaper, 360 grit attached to an aluminum tube with a rubber band and some oil. I have spent over five hours trying to hand lap some cylinders to remove the scratches. That is when I decided to go to a hone.

Just curios Bill. I noticed in the picture that there was fresh cookies in the oven. Does this mean that your wife cooked up the motor for you too.....Al
