Thanks everyone for your help. if other beginners can start on the H9 P-51 PTS, then i am sure i can. as for now, i will just keep practicing on my simulator until i get a decent day to go out and fly with my instructor. hopefully soon, cause it will be winter soon. thanks again, and happy flying to all!

I've seen three (yes 3) come to our field. All green pilots. One guy took a couple lessons, with all the gear on, then ran off to a field and apparently flys his face off. 2nd guy, never flew, had it doing circuits no problems. 3rd guy, some big plane experience (747 pilot or something). He also has a stryker he's worn out. But he still didn't have a problem with the Hangar 9 PTS model. He's on his second one now, which I'll get to in a sec.

All 3 models were dogs. They used alot of runway to get airborn, and were hard to get up to a decent altitude. With all the drag, they are really slow. They bob around when stalled. They are hard to roll, and harder to loop.

Swap the prop out for an 11-7 or 11-6 right off the bat. Leave the rest of the junk on it.

As you get better start stripping it down. Take off or turn the "wheel" covers. Put the flaps up (or install a servo). When your really brave, take off the winglet thingies on the ends of the wing.

Then you have a real Mustang.

With all the gear off, it will stall like a warbird does. Drops the one wing, and goes into a spin! Our 3rd guy with one had stripped it down, and was flying alone (he wasn't supposed to, but he learned a lesson, and noone was hurt). He was coming in for a landing, and on the last turn, it went into a spin. It has been lost in the blackberries for 2 months now, but he just came out the other day and had another one.

They are good for learning on IMO, with all the gear on them. The add on stuff is where Progressive comes from I think!

hello everyone!

Well i took my Mustang out today for the first time. All that I can say is WOW!. This plane is fun. I let my instructor take her for her maiden flight. When he brought it in, he said that we should take off the speed brakes on the landing gear right away. It was too sluggish. So we did that, and he took it up again. Once in the air I took the sticks. I did well, but I must say...it is fast...and very responsive! And I still have all the other trainer gear on it. When we brought it down again for fuel, the next take-off was mine...a little shaky on the rudder, but i got it up. Look out world...cause I am hittin' the skies! I AM HOOKED! Thanks again everyone, for all your advice.
