Bad Battery Luck...
Second pack to go on me.
Testing the gyro and servos, plug the battery into the receiver, stupidly, backwards. Yet again, another fancy smoke show with lots of heat, smoke and burnt wiring strewn all over the floor and bench. Any ideas why this is happening? This was my good heli flight pack too, bought it in April. I wouldn't think plugging it in backwards would do anything cause I've done it before with nothing like this happening. Note to self, keep a good pair of side cutters on hand. Cheers

Fried Electronics
Just a thought. You might save yourself some hassle by either
1) Change the connectors to match so they can't be put together backwards 2) Mark your connectors with paint so you know you have them right. 3) Would a switch between the receiver and the pack help or maybe a voltage regulator. Might be to much power from the pack to the receiver. |

a sudden surge of current is caused by a dead short or very low resistance. putting the negative side of the pack on signal everyone has done that or are these lipolys .

some futaba receivers ( could be on some others )
have the signal and positive connector shorted together at the receiver batt connector. so when you plug in a batt. pack reversed. smoke show because of shorted pos and neg batt wires. your batt pack might still be good if you replace wiring harness good luck

Standard 4 cell, 4.8V, 1100mAh flat pack.
Skypup, you could be right, I never thought of that. I'll check it out, cause as soon as they touched, it went up. The connections are still solid, but I haven't checked to see if the cells have split yet. I don't think I'll use it though, for fear of failure. Cheers

Suggestion... buy a battery pack that has a Futaba connector on it if you are using Futaba Rx. That way you can not physically plug it in wrong. Oh and use a switch!

Where do you send something like that? I do have a switch, but I got lazy and didn't hook it up
Oh well, gotta learn somehow.
