OK, the topsides of the wing are all done, six coats of "resin", and I've started the wet sanding, takes very little to get it smooth enough for primer. If anyone has recommendations for latex paints and primers, I'll take! I have a compressor and airbrush, so intend on spraying everything. 1/2 the bottom of the wing is now sheeted, and blocks installed for the floats and rigging wires. In other news, the decals from Callie Graphics came in, I ordered a set for the Hurricane, Spit, ME-109, and the Sunderland, I'll get them all laid out, and post some photos. Really impressed! Thanks Callie!

Re: 1/10th Sunderland

haven't posted a thing in ages on the Sunderland, so thought I'd better get a pic up. It's a mad rush to complete, a month earlier than I thought it was needed, it's being unveilled at 423 Squadron Friday! Here's the progress as of this evening, still working on the ailerons, tail turret, dorsal turret, and a few other bits and pieces.

Re: 1/10th Sunderland

Nice job! How did you like spraying the latex paint? I just finished spraying my first scale model with latex and I was very impressed. Followed the Roy Vaillancourt method of using Behr exterior latex and an HVLP auto touch up gun.

Re: 1/10th Sunderland

This baby isn't for flying, she's being donated to 423 Maritime Helicopter Squadron, tomorrow morning, for the change of command parade for LCol Garriock. He's a big proponent of educating young airmen/women about our history, 423 flew them from Castle Archdale during the war. There's little at the squadron about the Sunderland's, so now they'll have a big piece of history! lol I'll post some more pics, we worked from 6 AM this morning till 1030 tonight to finish it off, get panel lines drawn, the floats and ailerons, trim tabs, etc done.

The paint is Benjamin Moore AURA, lates, super slick, quick drying, and we did the whole aircraft using a fine roller for extra smooth surfaces, and it came out amazing! I'm still a bit rusty with the airbrush, so will save that for my 1/5th Spit. Benjamin Moore, by the way, can colour match all FS colours, so authentic easy to use paint is a breeze!

Re: 1/10th Sunderland

OK, four final shots of the Sunderland, it is now the property of 423 Squadron. Now just have a 1/4 Spitfire going to 443 Sqn, and the 100% size Hurricane to the Aviation Museum. Still waiting for plans/parts from the UK for that one, sure hope it shows up soon!
