Flatana FlatOuts Electrifly

Hi everyone,

I have an old aerobatic aircraft of ElectriFly. It is a Flatana FlatOuts:

http://www.electrifly.com/discontinued/gpma1111.html

Which comes with an old and obsolete heavy motor. Someone might recommend a brushless motor capable of moving a light aircraft (255g) and propeller 9x3.8sf

Thank you so much

Hey Carlos. If you have the old motor why not go with it? Old doesn't mean bad.

If you are set on brushless you can jump over to http://ecalc.ch/ and punch in some numbers to see what you'd like to run.

One thing you may run into is lack of nose weight... I suspect a brushless motor + esc are going to be lighter than the brushed setup. Just a guess, but watch out for it.

Good luck.... hope it goes well.

Thank You UberJay. The problem with the old motor is the weight. is a big motor like a brick. My body gift me a little motor (see the pics) it's an EMAX 2205/22 It's really light only 24g...

That's great that you have the brushless motor that you wanted. Hope it works out for you.

Over all you will lose some weight with the swap out, but you will need to be conscious of tail weight now. When you're building it and/or figuring out where the battery will go, etc. If the plane was designed to have that weight up front then they probably allowed for more weight on the tail. So you'll need to reverse that a bit.

Either way, all the best... show pics and/or video when you're done!

Yes is a really good idea, I need used the battery weight to compensate the motor lost weight... I took the picture. The plane is 75% end. The next week when I finish I will take a video...
I wish you a happy new week ?
