Well, you could swap out the fan for a better one. The fan and motor that come with it are pretty good but there are better ones that are also inexpensive. Don't make it too heavy either, the flight characteristic in slow flight could be a handful.

I'm not a big fan of the stock e-flite "dentist drill" EDF unit. As you said lots of options available, some are marginally heavier, but more than make up for it in extra thrust and sound

Yep, i have to research and find one, i have a deal pending for a stock fan & shroud but different motor in the edf. Designed for 6s too.
