just finished and dialled in this new bird

it is a custom mix of 3 kits:

- Hobbyking Slow Stik
- M.I.A. quicksilver ultralight undercarriage and struts kit (aluminum and carbon)
- Fuse and cockpit from a Hobbykign Drifter ultralight plane
- added legs and arm and animated stick-on-a-servo

I am just using an Aomway 200mW video tranny, with PZ0420 cam on a pan and tilt. P&T controlled by trinity headtracker on Fatshark Dominators

and of course a Taranis to make it all work

now running 4000mah 3s. and she might take a bigger lipo I think.

video from today is here:

Wow, that is so neat. I used to fly a real Challenger 2 ultralight. The views are so like the real thing. I wish I could build something like this on a scale Challenger. With a Challenger being a pusher, the prop wouldn't be in view. I think I've found my soon to be next project. Love the pan, tilt and animated control movements. Great Job, that's amazing.

Re: Driftsilver scale ultralight project. fpv

man I'd love to try ultralight flying some day (I am a PPL,but only flown cessnas)

I did a smaller scale ultraight before (Hobbyking Drifter), which was a pusher. But it never flew well. I think the tractor power helps a bit, esp on ROG. Also can use larger more high efficient prop. But the real fullsize Quicksilvers were pushers too.

M.I.A. (who made my undercarriage kit) makes some closer to scale Quicksilver kits, with tube and covering wing. They even have a powered weight-shifting hang-glider-'trike' kit now too. http://www.micro-flight.com/ultralights.htm

Thanks for the link. I think you are right, Tractor would be better for RC. The real pushers required a fair bit of elevator compensation when on an off the throttle.
