Jet Hanger Hobbies going electric

I was thinking about a winter project and I love the Saber design. I was wondering if anyone has flow or build an E version of the JHH Saber. The websit lists the unit as:

"This fully integrated system is a drop-in fit into any of our aircraft with no modifcation necessary as well as any aircraft designed for a 5" glow ducted fan. With the recommended motor (Neu 1521/1.5Y or 1527/1.5Y), battery (10s1p or 12s1p 6000 mah), and speed controller (Castle Creations Phoenix HV-110) (fan pricing shown below) this setup provides RPMs over 30,000+ at 4000+ watts, 14+ lb thrust and jet flight well over 160 mph!"

It sounds like an exciting plane and a good move into Jets. I am comfortable with the filght envelope I am just not too familiar with the electric part, and I am not interested in going to Turbine. So any comments are appreciated.

Re: Jet Hanger Hobbies going electric

I'd suggest going over to RCGroups.com and checking out the electric Jets forum for the JHH products. Search for thread or contribution by "jetmang".

Jetmag is Chris Wolfe (son of Larry Wolfe) and both father and son are active jet modellers. I've heard about some of the e-projects outside of the website and forums, and the quality is up there and worth the price.

If you're concerned, I'd contact Larry or Chris and see who in the area has a kit and you can contact to see for yourself.
