Recommended Prop Size?
Hello Gents:
A quick question - I intend to hang an OS .90 (two stroke) on the front end of my Hanger 9 Ultra Stick. The Top Flight prop chart lists a number of appropriate propellers for the .90, with a 14/6 as a good average or start point. I would like operate in the slower speed realm and work more on the 3D side of the performance envelope. Should I go up in diameter and down in pitch, perhaps a 15/5 or even a 16" prop or do I go the other way, smaller diameter and higher pitch Peter

For the slower stuff you want to go up in diameter and down in pitch. I have nothing that big but I am goofing around with a hangar nine twist and I am using a .47 engine on a 12.25x3.75 prop.

Peter,
Like recon said...up in Dia, down in pitch. Try an APC 15 x 4W, they are made for 3D. I was using a 16 x 4W on an Enya 120FS in my H9 Cap232. Didn't want 3D but it slowed it down and the verticle climbs were out of this world Hamerheads were a thing of beauty! .

I just wrote this same info in another thread but here goes again.
If you want some excellent advise on choosing the right propeller for IMAC, 3-D, and Precision Aerobatics, check out the latest 3-D Flyer Magazine, March/April Issue, Page 60. Great article with some excellent advise! Also an excellent article on what servos to choose for larger, 35% and up scale aerobatic airplanes. Has the latest and greatest in the new lineup of high torque digital servos! You may be surprised at what Mfg's servos lead the pack in this new lineup! 3-D Flyer has now had three seperate unbiased and independant test articles, with the results on the leading Mfg's high torque servos. The same manufacturer has lead the way in all tests! Believe it or Not! LOL!
