This is a good sign.

Educating the drone users that are often see being blamed on a lot of forums because "what do they know about RC"....

Well, at least one camera outfitter is doing its share in educating them on safety and regulations. I like that they have guest speakers from Transport Canada

Its a step in the right direction.

Re: At least Henry's is doing their part to educate Drone Pilots!

interesting. Good on them, and this is coming from a large national online retailer, not a small wee drop in the bucket business.

But then I was in Best Buy the other day. holy cow, they have a whole aisle of camera drones in there. And I mean up to $1500 or so. I had no idea. And we all know about the knowledgeable staff in those stores . Best Buy is spraying the continent with drones, selling them in a firehose fashion.

hey I was even tempted to buy myself a Bebop w Sky controller from BB. But the problem is, all the best stuff that's tempting to make video of .. is not polite to fly over.

Re: At least Henry's is doing their part to educate Drone Pilots!

Was in London Drugs the other day and checked the Drone isle.... They got their signs up saying basically " there are rules out there to the operation of these units, here is a site , go read and follow them" . Of course in more and nicer detail but I just used the jist of it. Good for them.

Max, the word must be getting out. Haven't heard of any infractions lately.

There have been lots of infractions, just very little ( if any) enforcement on Transport Canada's part.

Had the numbers for the last year or so on the number of infractions and fines but it's just we don't hear about them much.

Good stuff, I wonder if it's across the Henry's chain? I'll have to see if they're doing anything like that here in Ottawa as well.

Pretty interesting. Good to hear someone is doing something to clarify all the rules and regulations.

Its all about raising awareness, which is the key.

Lots of people are buying "drones" (multorotors) and don't have the first clue about how to use them safely. That's not their fault. They just don't know. What Henry's is doing is commendable, because its making an effort to educate the ignorant (and I don't mean "ignorant" in a bad way)

We need more of this, and not the useless rhetoric that comes on some forum threads where people moan about "idiots" and "morons" without addressing the real issue- which is getting the word out to the people that may not know that there are guidelines out there.
