Gyro help

Well tonight I got a little carried away with my t-rex 450. I decided I had enough of tail in hover, so I start doing some forward and side to side flight. It was going well so then I thought, lets try a loop.

I actually pulled it off, tried a second time and this time I almost lost it. Then I notice that when I throttled up the tail would swing to the right. Well cocky me tried a third time and this time the tail kicked out again and I lost it.

Only damage was a bent tail boom and broken blades that I see right now.

Do I have to adjust the gain on the gyro and or tx? I have a DX7 and the Gyro is a futaba 401 (not a clone) with a S9254 Digital Servo.

Man it felt good doing that loop......

Re: Gyro help

Bump up the gain....try 55% and work from there. Kick the throttle and try again. If you start getting wag and your heli is still turning on throttle kickup...then youve got it setup wrong.

Good advice.

Also, before flying any aerobatics for the day, put the heli in your programmed stunt mode/idle up and check trims in a hover and also do a couple full power climb outs. This will confirm things are as they should be.

Re: Gyro help

I should know this but I cant seem to find the Gyro gain on my dx7. I had it working well with the dx6i. This was the first time push it with the dx7. Maybe all I need is a little radio tweaking.

Re: Gyro help

Nope , Revo Mix should stay at zero.

Normally it is just values assigned to channel # 5 where your yellow wire plugs in from the gyro.

Re: Gyro help

Revo mix isn't gyro gain. See pages 73 and 91 of the TX manual.

Thanks, found it. I have set the gyro now @ 55%. I need to get some new blades and give it a try again.

Re: Gyro help

Try checking your Main and Feathering shafts. Usually, if main blades are damaged/broken, the 2 shafts gets replaced also. Might as well repair everything in one shot. They easily get bent ever so slightly.
