My wife and I attended our first airshow on friday. It was AWESOME! If you haven't been to one you MUST GO! A big THANK YOU to all those that help make it happen. I am waiting for my pics n vids to upload. I will post a link when it is complete. Here is a little taste.

Looks like you had to shoot in some very low lighting. Haven't faced that challenge yet. Aren't the Skyhawks Parachute Team impressive?

It was my first time ever trying to shoot moving objects The jump team was awesome as was everybody.

I've been to Abbotsford in the past, absolutely a top shelf event! Every model airplane nut should see a real airshow in my opinion!

I went to an R/C event about an hour from home back in 2008 to practice shooting fast moving targets in preparation for some vintage Can Am racing I intended to attend the next weekend. I spent a bit of time talking to one of the organizers of the event & later shared my photos with him which got me invited to another event later that season. That led to more & more events & more & more practice. It has also led me back to the hobby (building & flying) which I got into in 59, out of around 84 when I lost my flying field & got serious about photography. Shooting moving targets takes practice & knowing how to set up your camera properly.
If you're a MAAC member you should have received the May issue of MAC Magazine which has my article on how I set up my gear etc (there are other opinions on set up, I'm just sharing my way of doing it) & if not you can download it from the MAAC web site but you still need to practice. The lack of full scale events in the area is why I really like having a good variety of Fun Fly's throughout the summer to help me get better at it.
