Well, it's time for me to start building my new everyday flier as I destroyed my "Frankenstein" at end of last summer. I decided to go with a kit as it goes faster than scratch building and I have yet to find an ARF that I really like. I choose the Sig Citabria as I really like the general quality of Sig kits and the Citabria is the very first (full size) plane I used to fly aerobatics. Therefore I have a soft spot for the Citabria. So here it is, might not be original as there is probably a zillion building thread showing this plane but if anybody finds it interesting, follow me and contribute!

First thing to do always make me feel like it's Christmas, open the box and go through its content. Then study the plans to get a general idea of the construction, sort the wood and prepare the building board.

I am looking forward to watching this plane take shape. I have always had a soft spot for the Citabria myself. What engine do you plan to power it with?

It's going to be either a used OS FP60 with a Bisson Pitts muffler or a NIB ASP 61 four stroke as I have both available on the shelf.

Built one of those Sig Citabrias back in the mid to late 1980's, powered with an OS 45 FSR ABC.

It was an easy build. The engine was more than strong enough.

If I had your present engine choice though, I think I'd go with the 4 stroke and put on a big prop.

Don't know for certain what the reason was but even with full aileron deflection, I could not get the plane to roll, either left or right. Had to add full rudder as well. Other than that, there were no issues.

Anyway, it's a very nice looking plane on cokpletion. All the best with it and let us know how it flies.

Thanks for the imputs. I might follow your suggestion and go with the four stroke for more scale like performance and sound. I actually have 2 ASP 61 fs that I bought for a Royal P-38 but I was thinking that flying both engines on the Citabria would be a good way to flight test them before installing them in the P-38. As for the ailerons, I am planning to modify to dual aileron servos instead of the single central one with all the linkage. I might get better responsiveness. Differential aileron might also help for roll.

My vote would be with the four stroke. I have a OS 70 Surpass on mine, lots of power and love the sound i Also did mine in the Sig box colors.

After a week in Cuba enjoying the beach and the Mojitos, I went back to building and I made some progress. This build is taking a little longer than I was first planning but hey, this is for fun and that mean more fun...
I completed the aileron. I then made the second wing to the same stage and there is no point to show that again...

Thanks for the support guys. I think I will finish it just like the one on the box too. An other idea I had was to finish it with the colors of the tow planes used by the Air Cadets.
I had the time to make some work on the wing. I took all the ribs out of the sheets in the living room while I was watching a hockey game with my wife. She's a big hockey fan. After sending them I a made lightening hole (not shown in the pictures) that will allow to run the servo wire. I then started to assemble to right wing.
