Re: Four blade fly barred head

Want to keep up with this one to see how you adapt flybar to multi-blade system.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

Yes Max this is the second one but unlike the first one this one will be way more trustworthy. I took my original design flaws and rethought how I was going to do it, so this one should be a much better design. Keep in mind I don't work from plans so I pretty much wing it as I go. At least with a mechanical flybar I don't have to deal with annoying computer programming.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

I am sure you have given thought to where the flybar will go but give us a bit of a hint as to where your plans have it going. I am watching this with interest.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

Sure Don I plan on having the flybar above the blades but the weights will be parallel with the four blades.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

Here are some pictures of my last one, the one I'm building now will have the mechanics more hidden and hopefully less obvious.

Re: Four blade fly barred head

So, if I understand your process the flybar only connects to one pair of blades?

Re: Four blade fly barred head

Basically, only two blades are connected to the swash so there is no lift generated by the two connected to the flybar. Essentially, it appears that the flybar controlled blades act on their own as the flybar will tend to stay in its own plane and therefore will keep the two blades nearly level most of the time. If there is a shift of the flybar, it can move the blades in opposition to the two pitch controlled blades or in concert with them, depending on the flybar's motion. I am not sure that the dynamics of air being driven one direction by one set of blades and in another by the second set, would be a very stable setup. Do you have any video of the original in action?
