OK, I'll bite... Why is this a bad location for the carb?

Sorry to play the devils advocate. (I also like the smoke and noise also)
We really need to do our part in securing a healthy environment so that our kids and grand kids can enjoy our hobby.
Just my 2 cents.

I will make you a deal - I will stop cutting my lawn - and let the grass grow. No lawnmower and weedwacker emmisions. Then you wont have to feel so bad when I burn up the sky with the gasser's...

Will pass this one by the wife next spring If I dont come back, send help!

Seriously, I hope O.S. has a good one on their hands, as people have a habit of expecting their stuff to be flawless. I hope to test one someday for the mag...

Re: OS Engines New 55cc gasser!

Maybe having the carb out front like that will reduce the effects of positive pressure on the pump diaphram. Never know until its tested.
Choking it on a cold start will be a snap.
Running throttle linkage could be a challenge.

Re: OS Engines New 55cc gasser!

the big advantage i see in this motor is the one piece block (should save some weight )front carb location helps in 3 ways rotary valve intake increases power /less parts saves further weight /also keeps base compression area small (tightens up the bottom end)that will help the overall breathing of the motor ,mixed with what looks like a square bore stroke design 41mmx41mm that is a killer stroke for a 55cc most are 35mm,I just hope they keep the price in a range were someone will actually buy one.sure has peaked my intrest .Roger

I have mounted and run a few big engines with front mounted Walbro carbs (like the Evo 26 and 35) and its generally not an issue... ball link and a semi flex pushrod.

Any hint on what this baby will sell for??

Cheers
Curt
¥65,100.00 = $777.16 Cdn (October 7th)

$550 once there is some price competition

by comparison an AX55 is advertised at ¥21000, or about $250 and retails for $180
(GT55 is about 3 times the price of an AX55)
