Dennis, that is an interesting setup. I may try both methods, hopefully I don't take us both in. Thangs for the tips

in my opion a .46 is way to small for towing anything bigger than a two metre and the 2 m will be a real hand full if its a poly wing glider

at least if you fly in thermals?? evening sled runs will be a challenge

Sled runs? I've never heard of that before. My glider is a 73" span sport glider, 'bobcat' comes to mind. Anyway, would you think my trainer be capable of towing this glider?

yes i think that would be a not to bad combo partly becuase you have a .46 rather than a .40 and a bearing engine will be a little better also for power output
im assuming the bobcat your talking about has alerions?? bob martin bobcat??? flat wing with t-tail i believe more of a slope plane??
your lucky to have a flat wing with alerions and the extra power of the .46

i towed and was towed by a 4 star 40 with a straight LA bushing motor with Gentle lady and it wasnt much good at all

im not a stranger to towing but im not an expert neither but one thing for certain is that poly ,aka RES are prone to wing walking or dutch roll if towed to fast, its something that can magnify real quick! alerions take care of that

where are you towing from on the tug?? is it a low wing, flaps etc

I haven't actually built the hook for the tug yet, but I believe it will be under the horiz. stabilizer. I'm still unsure if it would be worth modifying it, because this plane is going on floats in the summer.

I'm not actually sure if it is a bobcat glider or not. I can try to get a picture and post it here for all to see. It's a nice flyer from my deck, good glide ratio. I was told it was a high performance glider. It does have a T-tail, but I think the wing has a poly-hedral in it. Big, beefy ailerons, huge rudder. It would probably be more responsive at a higher speed. Once I dive it, she really moves.
