HI Dave,

Bring 'em across with you when you come over for the primer. I still can't get excited about this electrical stuff. Funny, since I've been playing with electronics since I was 6.

I have yet to fly the Enigma - nothing but rain here for months. Looks like the weather is going to give me a shot in the next week or two. I did fire up the 1.60 and it took 24 volts and a dynatron to get it to turn over!!!! The compression on that thing is scary. The vibration is also scary as it really pounded. Had to give up running in the engine when the exahaust system fell to bits....

Looking forward to the upcoming season. I just hope that I can swing all of the events that I want to go to. Work has been really volitile lately and it's been hard to predict when I can book time off.

See ya,

Paul

Hi Paul

I understand your reluctance about the Electrics... I was there last year and felt the same way at the time. Since watching Chad (and the F3a team) progress through the growing pains and now running a very competitive setup, I feel the time is right to make the move personally. The biggest question surrounds the battery cycle issue and I suspect this will continue unabated until someone starts reporting 450 - 500 cycles per pack. Chad, or Adam will probably be the first in Canada to bust this number as they have a years head start on the rest of us

The positive thing that you will obtain in a year or so is the expertise that those guys have gained. They have been very helpful with set up information (ESC, Motor, battery performance etc.) and have been open about both successes and failures along the way.

Every time I step into the garage and see these Twister airframes I get more and more excited about the new kit and the electric setup that I have chosen. It's still a bit "Greek" to me but the smaller electric foamy stuff has helped to demystify the technology.

Vibration... Make sure your nose ring and all engine mounting bolts ar secured and loctited in place. Any slop in this area will create untold misery

Your previous flying experience with the Tynigma will assist you when you start getting some air time in. You will love how "true" the plane flys and what a stable platform you'll have to expand your flying skills. The sad part is it also shows the "mistakes" really well

Off to finish up the Yak 54.

Hi Nedim

Looks good! Your way ahead of me as I have not really started yet. Had to finish off a couple projects and prep the shop which is builder speak for "clean out the garage!"

So what did you use for trailing edge stock? Funny how the kit does not supply this ... anyway how thick is the trailing edge?

Type later... now back to that building thread.

Maybe time for a new avitar... the old Vector is long gone!

My old technique with Mantis and Enigma was smearing NHP micro-fill balsa filler to the trailing edges. Twister trailing edges are much thicker compared to Enigma. I haven't done them yet. I am planning to use 1/16 balsa as I think it is easy to work with. 1/64 air ply would be great for durability but very difficult to apply!
I need to get back building

Forgot to write. The trailing edges are 3/8 at the wing and rudder, 1/4 at the horizontal stabs.

Thanks for the measurements Nedim.

Ya that's thick. I am not sure what I'll use for TE... I'll sleep on it as I am a long way from that point.
