The bigger problem is not what the RX can handle, but the servos connected to them. Many servos are only rated up to 6V. Typically, you would use a UBEC (voltage regulator) that will lower the 2S lipo voltage down to 5V or 6V:

What is your setup? Most electric planes have an ESC with an integrated UBEC so you don't need a separate receiver battery.

Re: dx6i lipo voltage?

I will be using an electric setup, parkflyer around 30inch or so?
Micro servos and i would think 20amp esc etc..Should i be using a lipo at 7volts?
I see alot of lipos at 11.1volts would that be to much?
Thanks for the replies guys

If your ESC has a UBec, that will drop the voltage to the RX to safe limits. If the ESC does not have a Bec, install a stand alone Bec

Re: dx6i lipo voltage?

Pretty much most 20A ESC's will have a built UBEC so you should be fine regardless of the battery you use.

This really depends on the motor and prop combination. A 3S lipo will result in more motor rpms and higher current draw. If this exceeds the motor rating, they you will likely overheat the motor and burn/melt the windings.

Do you know what make/model of motor and the size of prop?
