Thanks Ed... I thought you'd like the "Mr" !!

Hey... my wife wants me to pass on her thanks to you --- she loves the fuse not sitting around in our family room!

Her message to you was to take your time on this project -- you have all winter to finish painting - don't listen to what she says!!

Cheers

Ed's paint-a-thon continues....

Now that the epoxy primer is cured, Ed sprayed on the white Exterior Latex (pic #177) and let cure for a couple days. This gives a good even white base for all of the following colors.

Pic # 178 and #179 show the masking process for the upper Red section. The white was allowed to cure for a couple days... The last thing we want is to pull off the masking and a strip of color comes with it.

You can see the paper template that Ed made for the red to ensure symmetry from side to side... All of the other colors will be aligned to it.

Here's a picture of the red all done.

Notice how the shade of red is a little off (Home Depot's colour matching obviously isn't perfect). Once cured, it will darken a bit, however Ed and I are deciding whether to paint the hatch to match... more to follow on this one!!

The plan is to allow to cure for 30-60 days and then buff it to a gloss sheen using automotive polish - time will tell how close the red will look after the cure time and auto polish is completed.

Looking good Ed - now time to see the yellow on there

Alright... Ed got the Yellow done...

The first picture (#181) shows the alignment of the cowling paint edges with the fuselage stripes.

The second picture (#182) shows the cowl all masked and ready to paint. According to Ed, it is all the masking that takes the time.

Pic #183 speaks for itself... after the masking is done it just takes a couple of "Squirts" with the gun. Ed tells me that latex dries pretty fast, more so with the sprayed on mist as compared with a typical house painting roller. He also put an additive in the paint to slow down the drying cycle to allow paint more time to level.

The yellow will sit until Sunday to cure before the final blue is masked and applied !!

My baby will soon be back with me

Wow... Ed got the cowl done last night!! - the yellow, blue and red is done!!

Time to go and get my baby - it's been out of my house far too long (and I'm sure Ed is tired of the big Yak in his basement!!)

Wow Ed - amazing job!!

Cheers

Thanks Manny - my decals arrived 2 days ago from Kirby's Kustom Graphics... I got a bunch of advertising for the rudder, a couple of big "Aerotech"'s for each wing and some engine decals.

Bad news through - there won't be a big "3W" decal on the cowl... a fellow RCC'r bought my 106CS from me. My plan was to go with the DA85 on a Tuned Pipe, but now I'm waffling between the DA85 and the DA100.

Regardless, a big DA decal will cover the cowl now!!

Cheers
