Warbird vs Sport plane?
Hey guys,
Just starting to get into looking for my next plane, I was wondering what to go with for my second plane? a Warbird style or a sport plane? I have 40 acres to play in with no trees in the back 30 acres, but unfortunately at the moment only VERY hard packed dirt for a runway. i am a bit concerned about the warbirds as i have been told you have to fly them fast, and i assume you have to land them faster than a sport plane which would not be the best for my landing situation but there are belly lander warbirds so its a toss up. have at it let me knwo what you think! |

Re: Warbird vs Sport plane?
Im looking to stay electric as Nitro/gas just has to much cost in fuel.
I found this one from hobbyzone its a mini-pulse XT http://www.hobbyzone.com/rc_planes_e...i_pulse_xt.htm

Re: Warbird vs Sport plane?
How about both! It is always a good idea to have a sport plane (beater) to keep your practice in shape. A sport plane with a thiner wing and a heaver than normal wing loading Is the ticket. Some guys would build it out of heaver materials and take maybe one rib section off the wing. A horizontal stab of 18% of the wing area will make it act like a warbird. Eventually you are going to want to try the flaps on your warbird, so put flaps on your beater to see how they react.

Re: Warbird vs Sport plane?
The Pulse would be good or even one of these as a sport plane.

Re: Warbird vs Sport plane?
Actually, Pulse is the exact copy of the 4*40 that was suggested to you as a sport flyer by Ace. Mini Pulse is the smaller version of 4*40. I have a Mini Pulse and I love it. My son was able to take off, fly for 5-6 minutes and land the mini pulse when he was 6. No bad habits.
I set it up with 40A ESC, KDA22-20L motor, HTX900 servos, 3s 2200mAh. I can't recall the prop size, but I can check. Quote:

Re: Warbird vs Sport plane?
Florin, What kind of landing strip did you have for the mini pulse?

Re: Warbird vs Sport plane?
WARBIRD!
If you're OK with "park-sized" foamies, the ParkZone Wildcat is an awesome belly lander (and pretty darned easy to fly!), if you're considering belly-landers. Most of my experience has been with foamies so far, but I've started moving into larger, non-foam airframes. Landing speeds vary; you might want something with flaps, to help slow approaches & reduce the runway required. Of course, that advice can apply to any type of plane. At the end of the day, what really matters is you pick a plane *you* are happy with. What the rest of us think doesn't matter a whole lot |
