i own a pizzazz and the gear got ripped off in a bad deadstick, for future protection would it be a good idea to put in plastic bolts?

I've seen the plastic 1/4 20 bolts save many a fuse. but everyone has their preference

Jason,
My Pizazz has had quite a few "rough" landings - without incident. If you are having trouble with the landing gear plate coming off, try reinforcing the gear plate and practice setting it down a wee bit softer...

As for nylon bolts, have tried it myself. Depending upon the plane, it can be fine OR be worse!! Having the gear break off then take off the tail or poke through the wings isnt fun. If they come off TOO easy then you have another problem.

if its got a wing or two and an engine - I like it!

Some guys will even cut part way through the plastic bolts to ensure they will break if needed. First barely rough landing on my Seagull extra ripped the bottom of the fuse out. Switched to nylon bolts and then they broke if landing wasn't perfect. Split landing gear will also help to save fuse on bad landings.

Jason,
Have used Alum. and plastic. If flying off grass I prefer plastic. The grass will not damage it very much. I use alum on pavement since it will really scratch up the bottom. Plastic will shear a lot easier.
