Unhappy Help wanted

I have a Hobbico Superstar - MonoKote trainer in need of recovering.

What is the most economical way to go about this?
  • Pay one of you out there to recover it for me? (I know NOTHING about covering planes)
  • Connect with one of you out there who has the patience to help me recover the plane, and teach me.
  • Buy the ARF kit for $115 +tax, and swap the electronics and engine?
Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

NOTE: I live in Milton, work in Oakville.

Re: Help wanted

I come from the "teach a man to fish crowd" I'm a also a bit too far away and I am definitely still learning. Great skill to learn though. Not sure how big that plane is, but the 2 I've done so far only needed 2 rolls of covering and the iron costs around $20.

Re: Help wanted

If you are going to recover it I would suggest using Ultra Cote. It goes on nice and comes with instruction sheet. Send me your adress and I will send you a almost new covering iron for free. Tom

Re: Help wanted

Before throwing your hands up in frustration have a look at this teaching video. It did wonders in building confidence for me. I'm a third of the way through covering my first plane and it no where near as scary as I originally thought. I too recommend Ultrakote. Cost a bit more but is easier and more forgiving.

Good luck,

Alan

Perfect, I have these bookmarked, and on my desktop, for quick reference. This is where I was going to send the OP.

It really isn't hard, just take your time. I'm also partial to Ultracote, I just can't seem to get Monocote to work for me.

Re: Help wanted

Buy the coating from HobbyKing. The guys that have used it say its just like Ultracoat, but in sted of paying $20 for 1m .. you get 5m for $15!!!!

Re: Help wanted

Wow! Great link!

Thanks for all the advice and support.

Pretty sad when you've never so much as flown a plane, and you have to seek help with repairs. LOL!

All due to VERY POOR storage. (HINT! In case there are any more newbies out there)
