Re: Header Tank

I'm not a car guy (I fly jets) but in my heli days we would use a regular Dubro 2 ounce or Sullivan 1 ounce tank and that would work fine.

Re: Header Tank

Whats the point of using a header tank in a truck? I do like the fact I can put more fuel in it so that gives me a bit more driving time lol.
Im guessing that when the truck flips its sucking air so the header tank will stop this from happening, am I correct?
Any links where I could find a good size header tank that will fit on the savy x?

Re: Header Tank

the savage has a rather tall tank with a step, and not completely below the carb. this means that the top half runs richer than the bottom half. for the most part, it isn't noticable, but if you tune with a full tank, it might get too lean on the bottom, and overheat your engine. one method of dealing with it was a header tank that maintains it's fuel level untill the main tank runs dry. a drawback is that the header tank needs to be at least half full, which can make refueling take a long time. it works, i did it with a very picky motor, but it's a bit of a hassle.

another trick borrowed from the heli guys is to thread a nipple into the lid of the tank to extend your pressure line into the tank about 1/2'' from the bottom. this helps regulate the exhaust pressure vs fuel level, but you gotta make sure you keep it away from the fuel pick up. another variation is to hang a clunk from your cap, and use that for the fuel, and use the old fuel pick up for the pressure.
